Being in high school and being in college Essay

Being in high instruct and cosmos in college - Essay ExampleThus schoolchilds life is characterized by dickens distinctive phases, one being the school life and other being college life. Though education and gaining of knowledge is the primary thing, which is common between a student attending a high school or college, still there are many differences which exists between them. This is because both the high school and college are two incompatible types of worlds, with their own distinctive characteristics which make them unique. Teachers, classes and a whole range of other factors are the ones, which makes a deep impact in the minds of students, while being in high school or in college. But it will be seen in most cases that, there will be quite different types of proneness for the students, during their life in college and in high school. (www.associatedcontent.com) High school is often characterized by strict supervision by the faculty and it is often characterized by lesser freedom, being experienced by the students in general. How Can Piagetian Theory be used to facilitate teaching activities in Term Paper

How Can Piagetian Theory be used to facilitate teaching activities in learning centers - Term Paper ExampleHe emphasized the use of questioning that lead children to find philosophically and designed tasks that call upon high-level cognition problem solving, reasoning, and understanding of complex beliefs (Siegler & Ellis, 1996). To Piaget, childrens cognitive behaviour is intrinsically rather than extrinsically motivated. Even if it is a fact that social interactions and other reinforcements influence how a child thinks, Piaget maintains that children learn and think naturally because they argon designed and turn over been evolved to do so. He came up with the ramifications of Cognitive Development because he believed that intellectual phylogeny is influenced by both maturation and experience. Cognitive development is indicated by a growing ability to plan, to employ strategies for remembering and to seek solutions to problems (Brewer, 2001 26). Piaget describes that cognitive development of children progress in stages. The initial stage is the Sensorimotor Stage of babies and toddlers. This period is characterized by interactions with the environment based on the childs reception of sensory input and muscular reactions. The task of this period is to develop the concept of object permanence, the idea that objects exist even when they can non be seen or heard. (Brewer, 2001). The Preoperational Period (two to seven years) marks the time when a child becomes able to represent objects and cognition through imitation, symbolic play, drawing, mental images and spoken language. Lack of conservation skills is also characteristic of this stage. Conservation is defined as the knowledge that the number, mass, atomic number 18a, length, weight, and volume of objects are not changed by physically rearranging the objects. (Brewer, 2001 46) The ages of seven to eleven or twelve years falls under the Concrete Operational Period. Children at this age begin to think muc h operationally. Piaget and Inhelder (1969) described the operational thinker as one who employs identity or reversibility by inversion or reciprocity (99) in solving problems. They have moved on from being egocentric and consider that others may come to conclusions that differ from theirs. 2. Adults role in child development Piaget is a proponent of Consructivist philosophy in education. This philosophy premises on the belief that learners construct their own learning, and in effect, have better retention of it. In the Constructivist surmisal the emphasis is placed on the learner or the student rather than the teacher or the instructor. It is the learner who interacts with objects and events and thereby gains an understanding of the features held by such objects or events. The learner, therefore, constructs his/her own conceptualizations and solutions to problems. Learner autonomy and initiative is accepted and encouraged. (Van Ryneveld, n.d., n.p.). Adults who adhere to Piagetian theories give the students more power in the acquisition of learning. Using prior knowledge, children are encouraged to invent their own solutions and try out their own ideas and hypotheses with the able support of their teachers. This way, they can indulge in concrete experiences that focus on their interests. The functioning of searching for information, analysing data and reaching conclusions is considered more important than learning facts. Teachers come up with several strategies in capturing their students attention, and courses are offered in helping educators become more efficient in imparting

The President Can Only Read One Page (Line from US TV Series The West Wing) - Essay ExampleCannon and Warren-Smith (2009, p. 38) emphasize that normal practices in banking have been abandoned and as a result leading to financial crises in the banking industry. This has caused a negative economic impact on the manufacturing sector. The role of the Competition commission and the OFT in regulation of competition within the banking institution is an important issue for the debate. Arora (2008, p. 224) and Bresslaw (2012, p. 20) elaborate that the large banks in 2001 operated as monopolies in providing banking services to SMEs and thus competition among the banking institutions was arrested. As a result customers had confine banking options because the banking institutions offered similar financial benefits. Therefore the argument of the debate is to enforce the role of the Competition Commission and the OFT in regulating banks so that manufacturing firms and SMEs would have recrudesce banking services which stem out of healthy competition among banking institutions. The Bank of England, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the Treasury as the major regulators of the banking services will be debated upon. Cassling (2012, p. 73) and Jun (2010, p. 18) point out that the major regulators of the banking system only become active when there is a banking crisis. This illustrates that a problem in regulation of the banking system must be evaluated for accurate recommendations to be reached. Haselmann, Pistor and Vig (2010, p. 549) argues that the FSA must play its role actively and ensure that financial services are efficient and fair to the consumers. A consultation to the Banking Act of 2009 will be made during the discussion. The Act will be discussed in relation to the principle based system in banking regulation as compared with the rule based system such as that of the US. The Recommendation of the Turner Review will arise during the debate. Reynolds & Will ey (2012, p. 64) shows that the turner review basically recommended that

Economic Growth in the UK Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Economic Growth in the UK - Essay ExampleSince the phenomenon of globalisation has become ubiquitous in the new neoliberal world order of the last few decades, it would be instructive to study aforementioned determinants within the simulation of international capitalism. This particular form of capitalism has steadily replaced socialistic and communistic forms of frugal arrangement in many countries in the world. While proponents of this global economic model argue that this is the best possible system, there are also those who strongly oppose various aspects of this system. Taking a historical perspective, we see that the events of the twain centuries are shaped and defined by the practice of capitalism. While conceding that concentrations of power and finance in and of themselves do not lead to oppression and injustice, empirical evidence of the workings of the capitalist model suggests such an outcome. Similarly, while neoliberal economic paradigm might have improved the Gros s National Products (including that of the UK) of individualist nations and improved the general standards of living, there are other aspects of human well-being that is not easily measured and fulfilled (Dixon, 1998, p.125). For instance, when assessing economic systems and determinants of economic growth, it is only rational to consider the consequences to the environment alongside measures of human standard of living. There is an emerging consensus among intellectuals and research scholars that there is indeed a strong correlation between the two concepts.

Optional to choose from the 4 different topics below Essay

Optional to choose from the 4 different topics below - Essay Examplepolitical science to the government of superannuated Athens. Ancient state and Modern Democracy One similarity is the degree of nationalism or positive national sentiment espoused by the government and the pile. For instance, the people of ancient Athens greatly determine their rights and power. As Pericles claimed, Remember, too, that the reason why Athens has the greatest name in alone the world is because she has never given in to adversity, but has spent more life and labor in warfare than any other state (Euben et al. 106) The same as this deep-rooted sense of patriotism, determination, and achievement, the American government has also been recognised for displaying honor and integrity and it has also confronted periods of misfortune and hardships. Another comparison amid ancient Athenian government and American government is observed when an absence of original is evident. In American democracy, there a re instances where the citizens are prohibited from the process of decision-making. This apparently is found in ancient Athenian government where only big(p) males were permitted to take part in the decision-making process within the government (Richard 75). At present, the United States implements a representative democracy where in it chooses representatives through the process of election. ... at any rate these similarities, there are also numerous differences between ancient Athenian government and the U.S. government. First, ancient Athenss legal system was tough because people usually do not hire a lawyer to represent them these people usually represent themselves without any official representative to handle the case. The reversion is true in the U.S. government. Second, distinctions between non-citizens and citizens were firmly established (Euben et al. 102). According to Richard (1994), Greeks were intensely concerned with differences among individualsdifferences between humans and animals, between males and females, between free people and slaves, between men who owned property and men who did not, and of course between Greeks and non-Greeks (Richard 123). At present, the U.S. government opposes and tries to eliminate such distinctions or inequalities. Moreover, citizenship was established differently in ancient Athens. In ancient Athenian government, citizenship was not established by socioeconomic standing however, class relations and the power to choose were strongly determined by democratic citizenship (Richard 123-124). Lastly, Athenian democracy, unlike American democracy, was restricted. Immigrants, children, slaves, and women were barred from citizenship and were prohibited from voting (Euben et al. 113). They did not possess any political power during this period. The American form of government specified in the U.S. Constitution is not in fact a democracy as that concept was identified in the 18th century. Indeed, almost all of the found ing fathers of the American nation regarded unadulterated democracy similar to that implemented in ancient Athenswhere the citizens governed themselves through

Illegal activities and globalizationWith the increase in the globalization and the increase in the people travelling to the other destinations of the world, it has been seen that the criminal activates are also change magnitude day by day. The ease with which the people are able to cross the borders of the countries make the people perform some illegal activities including the illegal migrations, the human export or t he human trafficking. This list also includes the refugees which are able to cross the borders across to the other countries and they take their refugee in the other countries. Human trafficking The caseFriman and Reich (2007) discourse that there are two concepts that might be intermixed in this case. The first concept is called the human smuggle which is very different from the human trafficking. The human smuggling means that the soul wants to be transported across the border illegally and the smuggler is paid some fee for that and after being transported illegally, smuggled person is publish to do any thing in the other country. In the second case the human trafficking means that the person so the persons are transported across the borders, though illegally, in addition against the will and the wish of the person being transported. The people being transported are transported force fully. The reasons underlying human traffickingThe human trafficking is done so that the people a re forced into some illegal work forces. This includes the forced slavery, servitude or debt bondage. In this way the trafficker deprives the person of the basic human rights of the person who is being trafficked across the border. The person is sometimes physically forced to being trafficked. It has been seen that the people are even deceived into lies such as better futures in the

Comparison of The Raven and The Erlking Essay Example for Free

Comparison of The Raven and The Erlking EssayIn this essay, I am going to compare and contrast the two famous meters, The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe and The Erlking by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The Raven is a one hundred and eight line verse form about a lonely man who is unstable after losing his married woman and comes across a raven who only speaks the word, nevermore. The Erlking is a poem about a man in a small girls nightmare as he torments her but nobody else send word see him. There are many similarities and differences between the two poems. Both poems create a gothic atmosphere and can be compared strongly in this way. However, both are of different lengths and differ fro9m each separate. In this essay, I am going to discuss how the two poets manufacture tension and suspense and make a conclusion after studying these poems. The first element I am going to compare and contrast is the plot line of the poem and the impression it is meant to have on its reader. I am g oing to start by analysing each poem separately and then make a small conclusion when I will see how they are similar and how they differ. I will be using this structure for each point I will discuss.I will start by analysing The Raven. The main principle of Edgar Allen Poes poem was to have a lasting effect on its reader. Shortly, forwards he wrote The Raven, Poes wife had been diagnosed with an illness. This illness was later the cause of her death soon after he had finalised is poem. It is said that this poem is his forecast of what was going to happen to his wife. This is, therefore, the reason wherefore he chose a raven to be the main character, because it was thought to be the most evil bird. The Raven is meant to be a representation of Edgar Allen Poe reflecting his responses to the bad intelligence agency of his wife. The Erlking is a actually dark poem and starts by giving a notion that the boy is simply imagining the Erlking and is dying of a strange disease. However, the poem takes a sinister twist when the boy dies at the end of the poem. Goethe had many reasons of pen such a dark poem. Such a reason is that the night before he wrote the poem he saw a local farmer carrying a bundle. This turned out to be a man who was carrying his sick squirt to hospital. This was where the main inspiration for the storyline for the poem of the Erlking came from. Also in German mythology there is meant to be a spirit/ supernatural power that is meant to cause disceptation and ruin the minds of children. These two factors were merged together to make the Erlking. They are both dark poems and want to create a mysterious mood for the reader. Both had an individual reason of why they were written but then their similarity grew because they had the same atmospheric impression. The second point I am going to examine is the linguistic techniques used by the poets. The Raven has a lot of alliteration and is used very frequently. Examples of this alliteration is-While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,And the silken, sad, uncertain rustling of each purple curtainBoth are object lessons of alliteration but in different ways, one very simple and the other has more abstruseity. The first quote is just three consecutive words starting with the same letter. The second quotation, on the other hand, uses two words consecutively starting with the same letter. However, the tercet word is part of the alliteration. The un is not part of the alliteration but the second part is. Although this part of the word starts with a c, it is operose out as the letter s. This is still part of the alliteration because this poem was obviously written to be read aloud. The Erlking is very different to the Raven, in this way, as it does not contain hardly any alliteration used for boosting the atmosphere. The Erlking does use a linguistic technique that the Raven does not use as much is repetition. An example of this is-Dear father, oh father, and do you not see,This is a technique very similar to alliteration as it created the same type of tension and both are meant to be read fairly slowly. Later on in The Erlking, this repetition phrase is repeated, showing that there is internal repetition (with the word father) and also phrasal repetition. The third I am going to consider is the create verbally dodging of each of the poems. The Erlking has a different rhyming scheme to the Raven. The Erlkings rhyming scheme is a very common one but the one of the Raven is very peculiar. Many poems have the rhyming scheme the same as the Erlking because it is very basic. This rhyming scheme is-1. A2. A3. B4. CAn example of this rhyming scheme in the poem is-1. Who rides so late where winds blow wild?2. It is the father devouring(a) his child3. He holds the boy embraced in his arm4. He clasps him snugly, he keeps him warm. The rhyming scheme of the Raven is very different and unusual, not many poems have the same rhyming scheme. This rhymi ng scheme is-1. AA2. B3. CC4. CB5. B6. BAn example of this rhyming scheme is-1. Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,2. all over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore-3. While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,4. As of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door-5. Tis some visitor, I muttered, tapping at my chamber door.6. Only this and nothing more. The two poems differ greatly in their rhyming schemes and have similarities. The Erlking has a very simple rhyming scheme with only two lines that rhyme out of the four. However, the Raven has a much more complex rhyming scheme with internal rhymes as well as end-of-line rhyming. The Ravens rhyme scheme, however, has an effect on how the poem is read. The Raven is a very gothic poem and this rhyme scheme changes the way the poem is read, especially when the enunciation is used. The Erlking is very different and is a lot easier to read, compared with the Raven. This coul d mean that the poem is meant for a younger interview because of the simplistic reading ability needed. The other issue I am going to study is the excess of patterning. The Raven uses this several times, however, the Erlking does not. Excess of patterning is when a sound is repeated in a line to give an emphasis of those particular words. An example of this in the Raven could be-Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,This quotation from Poes poem gives emphasis on the description to make this highlighted when the poem is read. This could have been a good technique that could have been added to the Erlking poem to make a part of the poem more prominent. The final factor I am going to consider is the length of the poems. The Raven is considerably monthlong than the Erlking. The Raven being 108 lines long compared to the Erlking which is a mere 32 lines long. The length of the Raven allows Poe to go into a lot of depth in his descriptions. However, this style of writing does not suit the Erlking as well. The reason for this is that the Erlking is meant to leave questions unanswered and a sense of mystery. If it had gone into the depth that the Raven did in its length, this would have been taken away.Over all, I can see that both poems are very individual but still contain some similarities. Both poets had very different inspirations of why they wrote their poem but they still had a very similar atmosphere that was created. They also use different linguistic techniques, although they create a very parallel of latitude effect. I can see that Edgar Allen Poe uses many more techniques in his poem than Goethe does, this may be because the Raven is longer and may have more fashion to use more effect without over-doing them.

Skills I Learned in High School Essay Example for Free

Skills I Learned in High School EssayMy Skills From High SchoolLearning to read and write in college is a stain parallel to Issac Newtons quote, If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants. This is beca affair Newton was satisfactory to advance the knowledge of science because he simply advanced the research of other great scientists. The skills that will be attained here in college are simply the sharpening of the skills I have already intimate in high school. My freshman English teacher taught me to sit pop up and just read a book and enjoy it. She also helped me diffuse my vocabulary by showing me the Latin roots in words.Mr. Cicoletti was my English teacher for grades 10th-12th . He was a kind man who had us look at the philosophical side of literature. Existentialism is a great example of this because it deals with you creating your own reality and deciding to make a positive change or a negative one on this nonsensical world. Albert Camus novel The Stranger is one of the existentialism books I read. I learned a little Greek mythology and was able to register the definition of a tragic hero. Joseph Conrads novel Heart of Darkness was filled with symbolism and imagery and was fun to analyze because it had so some(prenominal) content. Its true that it was hard to read but by using literary devices, I was able to break down the density of the book and figure that the Congo represented darkness and the further man went into it the wilder man became. That novel helped me see how man is primarily evil and societys boundaries and social organization us overcome our lower nature. My English teacher also had us read a book that had to do with African culture called, Things Fall Apart, and a book called, Night, which had to do with the Holocaust. We read these books because my teachersaid they helped us understand other peoples cultures and see how other people think. I like how he showed us that by reading literature you can und erstand different parts of the world without even going there.I also learned a lot more about writing when I was introduced to literary devices. I learned about research papers. That included learning how to cite your resources and use the MLA format. We also learned how to write argument papers, analysis reports, and compare and contrast essays. I was also able to take the AP Language and Writing Composition mental testing my junior year, where I wrote three Essays in a limited amount of time. I felt proud of myself because I am usually a soft writer but I was able to think of topics Samuelson 2quickly and write down my main points in a standard formatted essay. My senior year AP exam was not as successful because I didnt understand the second writing prompt very well and so I wrote down a poorly constructed essay that didnt make much sense but I was still able to finish the test. My teacher showed us that by being able to write well meant we would be able to communicate easier with many people and get substantial jobs by writing good resumes.Mr. Cicoletti taught me a lot of literary devices which includes, Alliteration, the repeated sound of one letter. I learned that this is used a lot in poetry to make the words adapted together better, such as the nursery rhyme, She sells sea shells by the sea shore. Setting, the location and time era of a literary piece, is a very definitive element for every story because it helps the reader understand the background pf the story better. Metaphors, saying something is something else, are used a lot in stories because they help you understand a concept better such as The woman was a snake. This helps you understand that The woman is untrustworthy and not safe to be around. Symbolism, a concrete reject representing an abstract idea, is a very important concept that I learned that was used a lot in the Heart of Darkness. mavin of the symbols in that novel was the ivory which represented the white pilgrims greed and l ust for wealth. Similes, saying something is like something, is a common device used in terrestrialwriting, such as a diary where someone might write, My heart was like a bouncy ball when I bumped into Cody Johnson this morning. Personification, describing a lifeless object as if it had human characteristics, is a literary device used in The Heart of Darkness because Marlow describes the jungle as being alive and waiting to steep him and his crew up even though its obvious that a forest cant really swallow human beings.Hyperbole, exaggeration, is something used in tall tales. Verbal irony is the speaker saying the opposite of what he is feeling Dramatic irony is the reader of a book knowing something a character in the book doesnt Cosmic irony is forces that negatively influence somebodys life that are beyond that persons control. Shakespeare uses a lot of dramatic irony in his play Macbeth. Sonnets are poems that are written in three quatrains and one couplet, making up a total o f fourteen lines. Ballads are poems that tell a story.Haikus are poems that have three lines with seven in the first line, five in the second, and seven in the last. Poetry was a big focus my senior year and I was able to research the famous childrens author A.A. Milne who was an extremely talented poet and I enjoyed reading his worksBy accumulating all these skills in high school, I hope to develop even better writing and reading skills in college. I trust that my teachers have done their best to prepare me for this new chapter in my life but I know I will still be learning a lot

Effects of Computers and Technology on Society Essay Example for Free

make of Computers and Technology on Society EssayThe development of office computers in previous(a) 70s has make a major breakthrough in our present society. Although the earlier computers were used solely for the purpose of processing and transmitting military info, the realization on the use of computers bear out the office computers we turn in today. Office tasks have never been easier since the computers have been dedicated to complete such enormous and taxing jobs in data processing. Since then the work loads particularly in the office have be cope minimal and less stressful for the employees. Suddenly because of our innovativeness we began to explore more(prenominal) and come up with more sophisticated computers we use today. The earlier versions of computers were un familiar because they argon bulky and with heavy features which makes them inappropriate for smooth offices. Thus some of them atomic number 18 installed on laboratories and engineering rooms. As comp uters continued to be innovated, their sizes have been greatly reduced but they be at present faster and more reliable. They sack now be used for word processing which is a very essential in processing documents. In the mid-80s the dimension of the computers continued to be lesser into portable desktops and thunder mug now be placed on top of office tables. Indeed they now evolved to be more compact, lighter, faster and more powerful. They can now pass multiple programs and software at the same time. Then in the 90s the age of the meshwork has arrived. From the introduction of powerful computers now comes the most usable means of transferring data and messages all over the adult male. Here is the now the world of the World Wide Web or the internet. The Internet has developed into one of the most powerful mean(a) for universal communication, mode of information provider, highway for electronic transactions and most convenient source for entertainment. The Internet link compute rs by phone lines and high upper berth digital lines which networked all computers that are spread out around the world. Technology which brought up the invention of the computer and the Internet has made everything possible. We have improved a lot by leaps and bounds. The Internet as todays most ingenious form of applied science has greatly influenced our lives. We can now find jobs just now by browsing the Net, watch movies from different websites, search for anything and everything that is beyond our imagination, source out information on any subjects and conduct transactions with other tribe around the globe. It is now so easy to send messages just by typing our texts using our email address and with a click of a firing can send the message to other emails. Transferring the message whitethorn just take few seconds.Another example to prove the efficiency of the Internet are the chat rooms that can transfer bulk of messages and pictures in seconds at the same time. These are lonesome(prenominal) few but most usable contributions of the engine room we use today. Since the Internet has become the highway for the largest and widest medium of communication and information exchange, business transactions and on-line commerce have developed into the most popular method in business operation. The largest online deals in the world such as the Stocks Exchange and the Foreign Exchange currency trading rely on the Internet to conduct business. In line with this applied science, the computers, however, likewise became sophisticated and powerful to carry on the task of processing data and information hundred times divulge than what ordinary computers can do three decades ago. To frank and honest this is what concourse want to invent and invest on technology to make things lot easier for us. unconstipated ordinary house chores are now performed with the aid of the machines. We have invented washing machine, the dishwasher, the floor polisher, the air-conditioni ng system and the television for our entertainment. How wonderful it is to live in a world full of magic brought about by the gadgets, machines and equipment we make. just now after all of these amazing things have been invented did it benefit the society in general? It is true that the inventions of machines have made things lot easier, faster and more precise. just do you know that since technology has greatly improved, millions of jobs have already been lost because they have become antiquated? As we advance in our future and develop more technology at that place is too displacement of man with their profession. We use to power everything by devote then by the machines and now by the computers. wherefore would manufacturing companies hire production nation if they can mechanize and computerize every process in their factories? Why would car makers hire large number for car assemblies where they can buy machines that are programmed and automated? Machines does not take thei r break, do not complain about sophisticate and no need for any insurance? Obviously because of our technology, people are getting phased out of their circulation and depriving them to earn their living. The computers, the Internet, the game gadgets, cell phones and accessories have also loosen our touch with the reality thus our bond with our families are also affected. The realization of the technology which has widened mans contact into the out ramp world has in a way confined him to smaller virtual world that rely on technology solo and not on physical attributes (Ghimire 2006). On the side of the economy, however, the negative impacts are obviously caused by the advancing technology. It is true that many people preferred engaging on technology-based education have benefited with the continuing vogue in science. But what happened to those who did not earned degrees or does not have familiarity with the drift? How can they cope up with the world that is being mental testing by this technology?Would they remain to be at the bottom of the ladder because the skilled people take all the best opportunities? Since the early 70s, computerization started to alter workforce, American workers with non-degrees begin to feel the squeeze. This is because the technology has started to manage the world in a more synchronized and automated manner. The most favored jobs have move the table in favor of the educated and the skilled. To cope up with the development, courses in relation to technical skills, computer and software engineering and programming were offered.Today, the people who look across the highest income brackets come from among those who specialize in this field. The jobs for the unlettered have become leaner and the demand for their services was greatly reduced making them poorer, ignorant and unfit for employment. consort to L. Mishel, Director for Research on Welfare Reform Network, the hazard on the development of information age is that objet d art the technology can replace workers with cheaper cost, this trend might become self-destructive with the economy because there will not be enough purchasing power to push the economy onward while we lead our lives into the future. To ease the effect of technology on people, Mishel suggested that there must be political action to make societal evolution beneficial to everybody (Smith 2007). But although the technology has affected those who are untrained, the computers and the Internet have produced a digital world of information and accessibility. Almost everybody can now reach out to the Internet. You only have to go online to order goods, books, clothes or even groceries and it will be delivered directly to you.The Internet also benefits the older people because they can now email people they want to get in touch with. If you happen to feel sick and want to go through for yourself about the symptoms you have you can check from the Internet to avoid health hazards. Moreover, the computers and the Internet have created a world full of opportunities. Jobs are being created and obtained everyday because there are forever and a day bleak jobs entering the Internet sphere. This is especially beneficial for those who have skills with regards to Information Technology.Based from the 2005 2006 National Association of Colleges and Employers, the regular computer engineer can earn more than USD53, 000 a year for their first year of employment while the entry level management can make up to USD 38,000 as well. Even small businesses have greatly benefits from this technology. Business owners can now advertise their product through many websites and can organize employee schedules with programs like Microsoft Excel. There are also online educations today that many universities offer and the opportunities are getting larger. It is projected that by the year 2009, one in every ten students will be enrolled in an online degree program. However, there are always losss f rom the advantages. Now the backlash from this advantage does involve risk with every person registered on the Internet. Identity theft has always been the number one crime in the United States. Although programs are constantly created to protect users from Internet hackers and scammers, there are also lots of experts who use their knowledge to commit fraud in their favor. Billions of dollars are being stolen because of identity theft, scams and online fraud.Unfortunately only few of them are getting caught and usually the discovery was too late before the harm has been done. Even the movies and TV series which are supposed to be legally shown only on cinemas and televisions are also being shown on the Internet without proper license and agreement with the producers. Recently the Writer Guild of America demanded payments from the owner of the domains. In effect, the rights of producers, TV stations, actors and actresses are violated and the chances to earn from these shows are lost. Sadly as the worlds of computers are here to stay there are always dangers in getting scammed in every step of the way (Weidenfeld 2008). And so as the technology changes in its fast paced environment we, as users also changes as well. Lets just hope that we could always cope up with any changes that the age of information and technology can bring us. There would be transformation and modification, of course but with less time to prepare we may probably make the wrong choices and our technology even it was intended to develop can destroy us (Graves 1990).Summary Computers and the Internet are two of the most brilliant discoveries of man. Life has never been easier with their aid. Computers are the most used and essential equipment in the office or even at home. Everybody almost have it because of its functionality and usage. The Internet on the other hand has succeeded in building gaps between people, races and cultures and provides us the opportunities to explore all things that ex ist here and beyond our world. But while we are joyful of the benefits of these forms of technologies not everybody is at their advantage. From the very first introduction of computerization, the untrained and the unskilled began to feel the hardships of being uncompetitive. The technology has created jobs according to its own trend. If you are unskilled and wants to earn a decent living you have to sweat it out to and can be able to earn minimum wage while the refreshful generation of computer experts enjoy their chances in their virtual world. This is the general belief of some observers. Analysis According to the points presented, there are always advantage and disadvantage at any prevailing discoveries of man. Man is a very adaptable creature and he makes discoveries according to his needs. The Internet and the computers have naturally eased up our burdens with our jobs, communication and commerce. But with this technology there is the theory that lots of people still blame techn ology as the culprit in decimating their chances to be competitive.Accordingly, people living on rural societies as well as the older people and the unskilled feel that they are always left out with the technology making them helpless and useless. But my personal opinion relies not how quantitative the advantaged of technology to most people but how the technology could benefit all people in any society. Technology does shape our future but our future depends on every fiber in our society which means that the people alone are shaping the future not the technology.Technology is merely the product of our modernization and innovation that is continuously taking us higher to new realities and development. But we lest not forget that technology can also be erased, altered or reprogrammed because the society is making the technology themselves. However, the complexities of the issues discussed here is that has the introduction of the computers and the Internet actually affected our socie ty in general? True enough the untrained and the uneducated can find it hard to participate with the virtual world. But does technology was created to rationalize people according to their capabilities? I think not. Whether we like it or not our technology with computers and the Internet will continue to advance and so there are no chances in going back to pick those that have been left out. There are always two sides of the coin here. It is up for the people to choose. If we are people with strong mind and interest to cope up then we can be able to discover how wonderful the technology can bring. Computers and the Internet are not complicated, adaptable, beneficial and educating people continuously.Whatever jobs and opportunities you wanted can be found in the Internet regardless of what you can do. ripe look around and observe. Even children, the elderly and disabled people can benefit from the technology. Education, jobs, opportunities and communication is now empowered by our te chnology. The old days of manual labor is almost over. We invent things to make things easier and there is nothing wrong with doing the job the easy way. If there are people who are against of this technology it mayhap because they are closing their mind with it.The Internet offers all kinds of prospects in learning, opportunities and information. It is only right that we have to take advantage everything that it offers because for sure we would definitely grow with itReferencesGhimire, Shakti. 2006.
